I completed this painting, entitled "China village alley" on 1st October 2007. It took me almost 4 months to paint this piece, there were many details to it. I tried something new...observe the alley....didn't it looked real? I glued sand on it to make the real effect. Painting different subjects in different ways is quite a challenge, patience is one of it.
This piece reminded me of my home-village in China where my root came from. I like this piece and hope you'll enjoy it too...I've already started on my next piece, stay tune in a few months time.
My name is Patricia. One of my hobbies is painting. I created this Blog to share my paintings.

Niagara Falls
I've finally completed painting the "Niagara Falls" on 25th June, 2007. This piece took me about 4+months to finish, the largest piece I've so far attempted.
The good thing about painting is: every time when I completed a piece, I look at it and I like it better than the previous one. I like this piece and I hope you do too.
I don't know which side of the Falls this is located, at Canada or USA side, probably Canada, not sure....it is a beautiful Fall. It is so refreshing and magnificent!

My missionary friend from Ipoh (Pearl) and I visited the Singapore River Hong Bao 2007 on the night of Feb 28, 2007 (10th day of Chinese (Lunar) New Year. It was a wet night but we braved through the rain with umbrellas and went.....it was worth it!

Grand Canyon

"Grand Canyon" was completed on Feb 4th 2007. It took me almost 3 months to complete this piece of oil-painting. I used the knife-technique. Of course, my painting didn't do justice to the beauty of the real Canyon but I hope you'll like it.
I am now painting the Niagara Falls. It's the largest piece I've ever attempted so far....let's see how it turns out later.

"Spring in Scotland"
I just completed this "Spring in Scotland" on 30th October, 2006. I've finally completed painting the four seasons. Somehow, I like this piece very much, probably because I like castles and flowers, spring is beautiful. I hope you'll enjoy this piece too.....my next attempt will be painting the "Grand Canyons" using the knife-technique.

Unforgettable Autumn

I've just completed this oil painting "Unforgettable Autumn" on 10 July, 2006. It was done by the knife technique.
This picture was taken in beautiful Jiuzhaigou, China, I would love to visit one day. Autumn is absolutely gorgeous in Jiuzhaigou, I am sure, my painting cannot portray a fraction of its real beauty.
I am now painting "Spring in Scotland", with this, I will complete the four seasons of the year. Stay tune....for Spring to come.
Painting is something to enjoy and not to rush through. So, I hope you'll enjoy seeing my paintings as much as I enjoy painting them....

Aurora (Northern Light) in Alaska

The glow from the cabin's windows is an inspiration from the famous artist Thomas Kinkade's style. Of course, this is of no comparison to his beautiful art-pieces!!

Singapore by night

This photo was taken during last year's (2005) National Day about 7:30 pm. You can see part of Singapore River, Benjamin's Bridge, Fullerton Hotel and the tall skyscapers behind the hotel along Shenton Way.
I kind of like this piece....hope you'll like it too.

In the Beginning

I've just completed this piece of oil-painting, entitled "In the Beginning" on 13th Feb. 2006.
This piece is adopted from Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth...."
Then God said, "Let there be light!" And light began to shine. God saw the light, and He knew it was good....
Then God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered together so the dry land will appear." And it happened. God named the dry land "earth". And God named the water that was gathered together "seas". God saw this was good.
We all know creation does not come in a BIG BANG by accident....there is a CREATOR and He is God. Everything was created in order and it was good in the beginning. Can you 'see' God speaking through the clouds? This is how it all begins......God spoke and created the heavens and the earth.

Sunrise Sunset

Hi,
You'll see my first oil-painting, entitled "Sunrise Sunset". This is the beginning of my art journey..... I've written a poem to go with this painting. This is 'food for your thots'....
"Sunrise Sunset"
"Sunrise sunset, sunrise sunset....
Wonder who created the sun and the earth?
Why does the sun have to rise and then set?
What if the sun refuses to rise?
The curtain of rays cannot roll in while the sun stands still,
We will live in darkness without sunrise sunset.
Who commands when the sun must rise and when it is to set?
Who determines when our life begins and when it will end?"
"God is fair - He gives each one of us the same hours a day, not a minute more or a minute less.
Are we going through the motion from sunrise to sunset?
Too busy to pause - thanking Him for each sunrise and sunset.
What if tomorrow is our last sunrise and sunset will not come?
Would we ever wonder what we have done with our life -
Is our dream fulfilled and our goal met?
Regret for not living to the fullest in every sunrise sunset."
"Whether we are strong or weak, happy or sad;
Going through mundane chores or challenges ahead;
Recuperating from ailment or mourning a loss,
The sun will rise and the sun will set.
But God's mercy is new every morning -
His grace is sufficient for today and will replenish for tomorrow.
Thank God for every sunrise sunset, sunrise sunset....."
(this painting was done in January 2004 and the poem was written in November 2004 when I was recuperating from my right eye operation.)

Winter in Korea

hi folks,
I'm trying to share with you my 6th piece of painting, entitled "Winter in Korea". This was done by a different technique that is new to me. Instead of the usual brushes, I used spatula (a broad blade). It was quite a challenge....and I like it, I can almost feel the snow flakes. You can't really see its textures and strokes unless you see the real painting. This is just a glimpse....

A stroll in the drizzle

"Strolling in the drizzle in Venice" went to an art exhibition at Kreta Ayer Community Center on December 3-5, 2005. The exhibition was honored and opened by Dr. Lily Neo (MP of Kreta Ayer Constituency).
The Mandarin title is very romantic, entitled "Xiao Yu Zhong De Man Bu" (hanyu piyin). Sorry, my painting is not for sale. Share with you to enjoy it!

FCBC Deaf Christmas Celebration

We had a wonderful Deaf Christmas Celebration on 18th December, 2005 at Roland Restaurant with 150 turnout. We thank God that everything went on smoothly and everyone had a wonderful time!
This picture was taken with all the helpers, without them, this event won't be a success! Thank them for their hard-work.
7th painting - Summer at the Lighthouse

This painting is one of my favourites, a lighthouse. It took me about 2 months to complete. This is my latest, done in November 2005.
I named it "Summer at the Lighthouse". Hope you all like it. Pat
2nd painting - Ray of Hope

Although I like art in school but have not pursue this 'hobby' because I was so very bogged down by work and daily demands on me.
One of my close girl-friends went for art class at a Community Center and she encouraged me to pick it up. Not that I am very free now, but that 'seed of art' within me is revived and I thought if I don't do it now, then, when?
So, my journey of art began when I joined my girlfriend in the CC to do oil painting in December 2003. This is my third painting, entitled "Ray of Hope".
I believe anyone can paint and we have that ingrained in us as our Creator is the greatest artist....look around you, surely, you'll agree with me, and look at yourself, you're God's master-piece!
I've written a poem to accompany with this painting....hope this will inspire you.
"Ray of HOPE"
"If we've HOPE, our world is a place of bloom,
If we've no HOPE, our world is a place of gloom.
Without HOPE - many a dream perished, dragging each day at length,
Only HOPE gives us the will to live and be a pillar of our strength."
"When sickness befalls - don't give up HOPE,
When calamity comes - don't give up HOPE,
When we grow old and our body degenerates - don't give up HOPE.
HOPE motivates and energizes us to live joyfully - NEVER GIVE UP HOPE."
"Animals live and animals die - they're born without a HOPE,
But we're born with a HOPE and die with a HOPE,
Even the sting of death cannot rob HOPE away from our soul.
Look! God's ray of HOPE is always there for us and it is so."
